Farquhar McLeod Ormondville Cemetery Part E

Ormondville cemetery is a restful place in a quiet country setting. There are some very old Macrocarpa trees on the boundary.

Farquhar and Jane are buried at Ormondville Cemetery. Also buried there are three of their daughters, Catherine, Margaret and Mary. The McLeod family gravestones, although now very weathered were originally beautiful marble of elegant and ornate design.

On right: In Loving Memory Catherine Beloved Daughter of F. MacLeod Died Aug 15 1921 Aged 52 Years

In Loving Memory of Farquhar MacLeod Died Feb 25 1925 Aged 87 (I cant read the age but it should be 86 or 87)

In Loving Memory of Mary Heneretta McLeod Died 30th May 1943 Aged 72 Years At Rest

In Loving Memory of Margaret Hannah McLeod Died 16th July 1931 Aged 65 Years Until the Day Break and the Shadows Flee Away

I think the hill country here, with sheep grazing, is likely very typical of the steep hills on the Waikopiro farm – though needless to say the access back in the early  20th century wasn’t like this road.
